One of the quotes I’m absolutely loving right now is from Winston Churchill: *”If you’re going through hell, keep going.”* Every leader understands there are times when quitting feels tempting, but it’s never an option. When you’re in the thick of it, stop and reflect on how far you’ve come, and remember the reward waiting for you at the finish line.

Life was never meant to be all smooth sailing. It’s those moments when we collect burns, scratches, and scars that truly define us. The medal at the end of the race may be what we desire, but it’s the struggles along the way that push us to keep moving forward. No matter what we face, the race isn’t over until we take our last breath.

I think back to the scars from an old ironing accident, when I was rushing to get my uniform ready for work. They don’t even compare to the burns I collected from hot oil, pans, and grills during my time as a chef. At one point, my fingertips were so worn down that fingerprint scanning was a nightmare. But today, all those marks are memories, reminders of the journey I’ve traveled to get here.

Do you have scars from the past that remind you just how real the struggle was? If you’re here today, then you’ve walked through your own personal hell before, and you will do it again. As they say, winners don’t quit, and quitters don’t win. If you’ve made it through once, there’s no doubt you can do it again.

To keep moving forward, all you need is to take it one day at a time and keep an attitude of gratitude. No matter how big the mess may seem, start by handling what you can, and remember—*this too shall pass!* #YHTK (You hold the key).

Midnight Hour

As we wrapped up the care training class tonight, one of the key concepts we discussed was reflection—and wow, did I reflect!

I was taken back to my days working at Schneider Electric. Money was tight, and it was a constant juggling act. By the time my paycheck hit, the direct debits were lined up, ready to drain my account. My sister and I were both working night shifts, and we had to be strategic to make it through the month—fueling the car, buying groceries, keeping the kids in school, and managing all the other expenses.

We knew that the paycheck would land at midnight, so at 11:45 p.m., we’d take our break and head to the cashpoint. The goal was to withdraw the cash before the direct debit could take its share. It felt like a race, and anytime we managed to get the money out first, it was like winning the lottery! Were we going to pay the bill? Yes, but the timing had to be on our terms. It was too late to call the companies and request a delay, so we turned it into a little game. Believe it or not, we actually looked forward to it on payday nights.

Now, looking back, these moments have become my reflections—memories of navigating a non-mundane life during my working years.

Today, as I train caregivers, it brings me so much joy to offer a holistic approach—teaching not just the principles and practice of care, but also how to manage themselves financially. We talk about avoiding debt accumulation and planning for retirement early. If your bills are piling up, don’t bury your head in the sand. Reach out to your utility companies, set up a payment or budget plan, and if needed, ask for a rollover. What you don’t do is stay silent. Keep communication open with your creditors to show you’re still credible, even in tough times.

Got your first job? Start thinking about your last job, too. Start building those passive income streams now—because last-minute planning definitely isn’t for everyone.

Stumbling Blocks

At the start of this year, I made a decision to expand my influence by empowering a few good women. For me, this was part of my purposeful journey—a way to give back and help others step into their next chapter. It wasn’t just about talk; it was about action. This mission meant daily messages, sharing resources, and supporting each other in our growth. It required dedication, commitment, and above all, consistency. The foundation of it all? Gratitude. An attitude of gratitude, every single day, that fuels our dreams and keeps us moving forward.

Then, one day, I received some shocking news. The kind that could’ve made me want to give up, shut down, or just take a step back. But I couldn’t. I had messages to send, speeches to deliver, people counting on me. I had to hold myself together and keep going. It reminded me of a young woman who once held an ambassadorial role for a renowned charity after winning a major pageant. It was a huge responsibility, as you can imagine.

On one occasion, she was scheduled to speak at a leadership empowerment forum for younger girls. She arrived late—almost at the very end of the event. But she gave a powerful, motivating speech that resonated deeply with those girls. Later, she pulled me aside to apologize for her lateness. Her reason? Her family had lost their home five days earlier. She had been living out of a suitcase, sleeping on friends’ sofas and in shelters, unsure where she would lay her head each night as they searched for a new place amidst a housing crisis. That same day, she had gone to work and attended an audition before showing up at the event.

Her message to the girls took on a whole new meaning for me when she said, “If you’re asked to do something and it feels right, say yes, even if you don’t know how to do it yet. You’ll learn along the way, but saying yes opens doors you never knew were there.”

What she faced, and what I faced that day, are called stumbling blocks. We all have them. What’s standing in your way today? Is it family? Friends? Work? Finances? Procrastination? Rejection? Stumbling blocks can be external, like situations outside of your control, or internal, like doubt or fear.

Whatever it may be, know this: it won’t last forever, and it will pass. You’re capable of handling it. Just like that young woman, and just like I did, you can overcome it and keep moving forward. Remember, you’re in the driver’s seat of your life, and “you hold the key” to where you’re going next.

So, identify that stumbling block. Scale it like the pro you are, and keep pushing forward. Your next level is waiting for you.

From Whispers To Statutes

Look around you—women are everywhere. Some are prominent, others may seem unnoticed. Our personalities vary, yet we all carry the same inherent power. For some, that power is loud but lacks direction, while others, like the quiet rudder of a ship, gently steer the course of immense change, guiding massive vessels to their destinations.

It breaks my heart when I hear of women short-changing themselves in any relationship—whether it’s with a spouse, a friend, in the workplace, or in any sphere of life. I believe deeply in the power of women to change the world. We carry the power to shape destinies. We are carriers and incubators—whether or not we have biological children, we are designed to nurture, build, and transform the lives we touch.

From the moment of conception, the words spoken to an unborn child are already shaping that child’s destiny. Gentle whispers of love and encouragement create the environment for a healthy, emotionally balanced individual. And the words we use when correcting a toddler have the potential to either build them up or break them down. The power to shape destinies lies in a woman’s hands.

A son raised with love and respect will grow to understand the importance of treating women well—he’ll never raise his hand to a woman. He’ll stand up for the vulnerable, ensuring fairness and justice are priorities. He’ll know that life is not just about him, but about serving others.

A daughter raised in dignity and respect will know her worth. She will honor her husband and her home, carrying herself with grace and humility. Her head held high, she will listen with wisdom and act with compassion, always ready to help those in need.

The power of every woman to change the course of humanity begins in the smallest of moments—in baby whispers, classroom whispers, table whispers, bedroom whispers, and every opportunity to speak life into those around her. This power extends all the way to monumental changes in society.

People say women gossip and men discuss, but let’s not forget: women’s “gossip” has changed history. It’s whispered conversations that led to the end of child marriage in a country. So today, I challenge you to make your whispers count. Use your influence in conversations to create positive change in society. Let your voice inspire discussions that shape a better future for the next generation.

Because after all, #YHTK—You Hold the Key. Be the game-changer your generation needs with a whisper that echoes across the world. Your retirement awaits your commitment to humanity.

Where the answer lies

Did you know that research estimates we have between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts a day? That’s an astonishing number—think about it. What are you doing with all those thoughts? Are they simply fleeting, or are you intentionally using them to build something meaningful for your future?

When it comes to planning for retirement, it’s not about the quantity of thoughts we have, but the “quality”. It’s the depth of our thinking and how we channel those thoughts into positive actions that truly shape the next stage of our lives. The possibilities are endless, but without action, even the best ideas remain just that—ideas.

One of the steps I took while still working was “living my retirement in practice” during my days off. I created a routine that aligned with my vision for retirement, starting the night before. I would plan my day with intention—wake up, do my morning devotion, get dressed, and stand in front of the mirror to read my affirmations aloud, really letting those words sink in. (I’ll share my affirmations with you another day!)

I would set up my tasks as if I were meeting with real clients, even though they were imaginary at the time. I wasn’t just pretending; I was “drafting real resources” that I knew my future clients would need. Throughout the day, I followed a structured routine, taking breaks as I would in my future calendar, and meeting friends for meals or heading to the pool for aqua aerobics.

This practice wasn’t just play-acting. It was “bringing my future reality to life”, using my thoughts and actions in the present to create the retirement life I envisioned.

Now, it’s your turn. Start living your retirement now, in your mind and in your actions. Don’t let those 60,000 thoughts go to waste. Every thought can be a stepping stone toward the life you want. Your future starts with how you think today.

I want to do a poo at Paul’s!

Catching up with my daughter today on one of our long chats, I said, “I need to go to the bathroom.” She replied, “Go then.” It reminded me of one of those memorable adverts my kids loved when they were younger, so I couldn’t help but respond with, “I want to do a poo at Paul’s.” If you know, you know!

That’s the magic of advertising—it sticks with you. It’s what transforms a local business into a global one. Today, no business can truly thrive without understanding digital marketing.

Over 20 years later, I still remember that Glade ad, and it influences how I shop. That’s the power of digital marketing and building passive income streams. The best part? You can still earn in retirement from resellable products, digital creations, and innovative ideas.

I Owe Myself

I owe myself a sky so vast,
Where dreams are born and visions cast.
To mountains high and valleys low,
Where rivers of ambition flow.

I owe myself the morning sun,
With each new day, a race begun.
To chase the stars, to touch the moon,
In twilight’s whisper, dreams attune.

I owe myself the ocean’s roar,
Adventure calls from every shore.
To sail on waves of hope and might,
Navigating through the night.

I owe myself the open road,
Where every journey’s story’s told.
With every step, a future bright,
Unfolding in the morning light.

I owe myself a garden fair,
Where flowers bloom with tender care.
To nurture seeds of thought and grace,
In nature’s arms, my dreams embrace.

I owe myself the strength to climb,
To reach the peak in my own time.
With courage bold and spirit free,
To stand and say, “I am me.”

I owe myself the chance to soar,
To find what life has kept in store.
Through clouds of doubt, to skies so clear,
Where all my dreams draw ever near.

I owe myself the quiet peace,
Where heart and mind can find release.
In stillness deep, my soul can find,
The visions kept within my mind.

I owe myself the world so wide,
With countless wonders to abide.
To live, to love, to dare, to be,
All that is imaginable for me.

I owe myself the sweetest song,
A melody where I belong.
In every note, in every rhyme,
A testament to dreams in time.

I owe myself, I now believe,
A life where all my dreams can weave.
A tapestry of hopes unfurled,
To claim my place within this world.

That One Moment!

If you’re a parent or a deeply caring friend, you’ll resonate with today’s message. You know that feeling when you try so hard to get your kids to understand important life lessons or when you’re trying to pull a friend out of a destructive situation, and they just look at you like, “You don’t get it”? That’s exactly what I’m talking about.

I’m always hammering the message of saving and investing into my kids’ heads. I didn’t have the advantage of financial education growing up—I got the formal education instead. Thankfully, I caught on before it was too late, and now I’m determined to see my kids financially independent, out of the rat race early. But the funny thing is, when the message comes from someone too close to them, it rarely sinks in.

A few months ago, my daughter called me after a night out with her colleagues. She met one of the directors at her job, a young woman just a few years older than my daughter. This young director was talking about how she budgets, scrimps, saves, watches her spending, and how, at just 27 years old, she’s already bought her own three-bedroom house in London.

That call was my daughter’s *eureka* moment. She suddenly saw the light, not through my words but through the vision of someone in her age group. She was inspired and started planning how she was going to change her habits, save more, and work toward her goals.

That’s the moment when the penny drops and clarity kicks in—the moment when understanding floods in, and you realize that everything you need to be who you’re meant to be is already within you. You are a complete package, lacking nothing.

So, here’s my message for you today: You are part of a fully functioning, unique whole. No one else can be you. Your thoughts, your style, your ideas, your skills, your habits, your face—everything about you is yours alone. You are special, and you already have everything you need to live a happy and successful life. The tools are within you.

Start with self-love and appreciation—embrace all of you, both the hardware and software.
Identify your natural gifts.
Find where your skills can solve a problem for others.
Get your audience.
Deliver your value.
Figure out how to monetize what you bring to the table.
Success will follow.

It all happens in that one moment! #YHTK

How do you show up?

Unsupportive or Dependable?

While compiling a list of 100 friends and family members for an event, I scrolled through my phone, adding some names with confidence and skipping over others. Then I paused to ask myself why it was so easy to bypass certain names. The answer came quickly—“Unsupportive.”

These were the people who never show up, always have an excuse, or seem to have a problem when it’s time to lend support. They don’t refer, patronize, or stand by their friends; they’re friends only in name. Reflecting on my list, I turned the question back on myself: *How do I show up for others?*

The people I confidently added to the list all shared one defining trait—“Dependable.”

Growth and change are some of life’s hardest, yet most constant, experiences. They can be painful, but the rewards are limitless. That moment of scrolling made me look inward. Just as I scrutinized my relationships, I also began to assess myself—where I stand, where I fall short, and how I show up for others. It’s clear that it’s time for me to level up in my relationships too.

What about you? How do you show up? Take a quick glance at your phone. What word comes to mind as you scroll through your contacts? Now, flip the mirror back on yourself—how would you measure up?

I hope the reflection looks good because being dependable sure feels good on me.

Remember, #YHTK (You Hold The Key) and I believe in you!
